Text in Japanese. Exceptional collection of images by Japanese photographer Takao Niikura, surveying three decades' worth of photography, sytlistically sustained throughout. Niikura captures small moments and events - trips to the beach, hanging out on the street, children playing, meals, and so on - in deceptively simple images that carry a peculiar and oddly compelling presence. Abundantly illustrated with nearly 200 darkly printed images, most showing Japan, as well as some images of New York in the late 60's. A vastly overlooked body of work - the street photography, dating back to the 60's, is very strong and devoid of banality. Most highly recommended - the scans don't really convey the presence of these images. Out of print and scarce. In excellent condition.
